TFT-Overflow-Block

Since TFT-LCD displays have started replacing CRT, production of TFT-LCD glass substrates has witnessed continuous double digit annual market growth. Forming glass substrates by overflow fusion process outperforms the float glass process so far. The size of TFT-LCD display glass is becoming larger year by year, thereby, driving the demand for high-end quality refractory materials and new products. Embracing these market trends, and taking up these challenges, P-D Refractories is responding successfully by demonstrating its attained capabilities to manufacture and machine ultra-large, complex shapes of refractory materials such as trough made of isostatically pressed dense Zircon – one of P-D’s strategic cornerstones of innovative product development.

Following years of sustained technical efforts, P-D Refractories has developed the ability to provide trough, these indispensible key components, meeting the stringent requirements and applied strict standards of precision, demanded by the display glass industry.

Inherent to the nature of the overflow fusion glass forming process, the distinguishing features of stress exerted on the trough after installation call for thermal shock resistance, high hot modulus of rupture and good resistance against corrosion by molten glass, among other properties. Despite the ultra-large dimensions and heavy weight of typical trough made by P-D Refractories, surface quality and homogeneity are excellent.
