Innovative special products with high finishing requirements, such as forming blocks for TFT- LCD substrate glass by overflow-downdraw-process, tin bath bottom blocks (Verral 40 FT) for float glass lines and isostatically pressed products such as chromic oxide and zircon blocks are among our specialties.

Our tight and decade long cooperation with our customers in different glass industries enables us to offer a wide ranged product portfolio for glass furnaces, in particular for critical applications – irrespective whether flat glass, fiber glass, container glass or specialty glass lines are concerned.

In addition we offer innovative solutions for auxiliaries such as channel systems, drawing chambers, regenerators, ceramic recuperators, feeder forehearth and spouts including feeder expendables.

Iron and Steel

Extensive and individually

The industrial history of mankind is characterized by the use of fire to create commodities from iron and steel.  The rapid technical developments that took place in the 19th century consequently led to highly productive manufacturing procedures with the highest demands being placed in particular on associated refractory materials. P-D Refractories is deeply rooted in this tradition by manufacturing reliable refractory materials for the iron and steel industry for more than 100 years.

Extreme stress on materials in blast furnaces and electric furnaces, ladles and processing units is caused by melts and slags and the combination of mechanical and chemical corrosion with fast changing wear. We offer a variety of solutions for any high temperature processing in iron and steel production.

In addition to our wide range of refractories for blast furnaces, air heaters, ladles and hot metal ladle, our application engineers in research and sales are used to develop individual solutions together with our customers. Of course we are also a competent partner for the refractory engineering, jointly with our cooperation partners.

Aluminium

Aluminium is an important material for innovative applications whether in the area of vehicle construction, the building industry, the packaging industry or high-tech areas. Sensitive and sophisticated in production and processing, it needs a solid manufacturing base. We are fully conversant with the demanding requirements of the aluminium and non-ferrous industries and supply a broad range of customer oriented solutions.

P-D REFRACTORIES produces and supplies worldwide refractories for open and closed anode baking furnaces and electrolysis cells for the primary aluminium industry. Further applications are melting und holding furnaces for secondary aluminium, as well as products for a wide range of furnaces for the non-ferrous metallurgical industry.

Based on our long-term experience in the aluminium and non-ferrous industries we are in a position to produce secured material quality conform to customer specifications and thereby meet and surpass the expectations of our customers.

General Kiln Engineering

Individual and versatile

The demands on refractories for heat resistant furnace construction are multifaceted  in terms of design and thermal rating. Our refractory products for the complex area of industrial furnaces range from standard bricks to sophisticated burner blocks. We are your partner for tailor made solutions based on your individual demands and ideas, and offer you expert advice.  The manufacturing of shaped as well as unshaped materials for tunnel kilns and kiln cars for the ceramic industry and acid-resistant lining bricks for use in industrial chimneys serve as just two examples.

Furthermore, we are suppliers for well-known manufacturers of chimneys, standard furnaces, boilers and heating cassettes which are used in the private sector or for small units.

Cement

First class and reliable

Cement is a basic material for today’s modern building industry world-wide whether used in structural or civil engineering. The technical progress in the lime and cement industry as well as the increasing use of alternative fuels puts suitably tailored refractory products more and more in demand.  We continuously introduce successful refractory solutions with the competence of our customers and provide service in more than forty countries with long-term experience in the development and manufacturing of refractory materials.

We provide aluminum silicate refractory materials for preheaters (cyclone, calciner), for kiln hoods, cooler, tertiary air ducts as well as selective zones in lime burning kilns and cement rotary kilns.  First class quality, perfect fit with the applications and individual consultation is just part of our standard procedure.

Coke

Timeless and indispensable

Our today’s position as the market leader for the manufacture of refractory material for coke oven plants is based  on know-how and the continuous innovations achieved over 140 years.  The history of the German coke industry is strongly linked to the foundation of our site Dr. C. Otto in 1872.  We do have an outstanding role in the production of refractory bricks and mortar for coke oven plants since that time.

We have marked the history in the development of regenerative horizontal chamber coke ovens and the steady development of various brick types due to the long-standing symbiosis with the plant building sector and the closeness to the plant operators.

The introduction of silica bricks as the exclusive building material for coke oven chambers was one of the precursors for the development of modern, environmentally-friendly and energy-saving high capacity coke ovens of all kinds.

A showpiece, made of the proven PD REFRACTORIES material, is the coke plant of ThyssenKrupp Steel in Duisburg, with currently the world’s largest coke oven chamber.

Our products withstand the high demands in refineries, brown and black coal power plants, combustion chambers and reactors. We also offer high quality and environmentally friendly solutions for waste incineration plants, this especially in the area of special waste disposal and ash and slag glazing. In particular, our products provide a higher efficiency in the disposal of problem waste.
