SiC materials are exposed to exceptional corrosive conditions, thermal conditions and abrasive conditions when applied in combustion chambers of waste incineration plants or high temperature furnaces. SiC bricks with silicon-aluminium-oxynitride bonding and with a grain matrix from cubic SiC are well suited for the latter stress applications. A purpose related material composition, the application of different shape related shaping processes, and firing in the best possible oxygen free atmoshpere ensures SiC products are produced with excellent performance characteristics.
