Personnel change in the management of P-D refractories GmbH
Wilsdruff, 26.05.2021 – Christian Wasmuht, responsible for the areas of production and sales, will leave the management of the refractory manufacturer in Bochum-Dahlhausen. After nine successful years, in which with the decisive participation of Christian Wasmuht, pioneering investments were made to assure the future of the location Bochum-Dahlhausen, Wasmuht sees the right time for a personal reorientation.
"We respect this and thank Mr. Wasmuht for his great commitment and the long-standing successful cooperation," said Managing Partner Stefan Preiss-Daimler, commenting on the decision. "Our best wishes accompany Mr. Wasmuht on his further life."
Christian Wasmuht will be working in the company until 30.06.2021. He will also resign from the board of directors of the Czech sister company P-D Refractories CZ a.s. and from his sharehold of the Preiss-Daimler Group.
Since 2012, Wasmuht has played a major role in the restructuring of the refractory division of the Preiss-Daimler Group. Wasmuht has advanced a significant expansion of its product and customer portfolio, the further internationalisation of the business and the optimization of production through a large number of investments. The company Dr. C. Otto in Bochum Dahlhausen, which celebrates its 150th anniversary in 2022, has thus developed into one of the most modern refractory production facilities in Europe.

New Blood at P-D Refractories Dr. C. Otto
Last year there was another successful brood in this nesting box, as can be seen very well in the picture. Several times already, the pair of peregrine falcons had young ones who sprawled from our factory premises looking for new territories — this way the falcon family spreads.
The actual habitat of peregrine falcons is varied landscapes and most of all high rocks for breeding. Since the natural habitat can hardly be found here, the falcons choose areas that feature high buildings such as chimneys, cooling towers, etc. as “substitute rocks”. The Arbeitsgemeinschaft Wanderfalkenschutz Nordrhein-Westfalen (Association for Peregrine Falcon Protection in North Rhine-Westphalia) aims at offering peregrine falcons suitable nesting aids. So far, the Association’s members have been able to install more than 140 peregrine falcon nesting aids, primarily in industrial plants.
High-Tech Tunnel Kiln Put into Operation at P-D Refractories CZ a.s.
Stabilisation of the foundations using micro-piling was a great challenge for the furnace builder. At the beginning of September 2020, the furnace is now in operation as planned. When the operating temperature was reached after several days, we started firing fireclay goods, followed with other products that require a temperature of up to 1550ºC. The perfect execution of the construction and all the equipment has also been confirmed by the fact that the complete test run was performed smoothly.
In addition to providing flexibility, higher quality and capacity, the new tunnel kiln also allows us to fire silica goods.
This fact considerably contributes to complete management of orders in the field of the coking-
making industry, which is one of the main strategies of P-D Refractories CZ a.s.
